Located in the heart of Yogyakarta, Wijen Coffee is a captivating café that invites you into a world where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee meets the warmth of home. Tucked away on Jl. Gedongan Baru, this charming establishment embraces the spirit of slow living, making it the perfect spot for quiet conversation, deep discussions, or simply enjoying a moment of solitude with a splendid cup of coffee.

As you step inside, you'll be enveloped by a cozy ambiance that encourages you to stay awhile. The café is lovingly run by a husband-and-wife duo who not only serve coffee but also craft delightful homemade pastries. Their passion for coffee is evident as they roast their own beans, allowing guests to experience a truly unique range of flavors, from nutty and sweet to beautifully balanced brews.

Customers rave about the rich and aromatic Single Origin Filter Coffee that is carefully prepared to accentuate its natural notes. As one satisfied customer, Daniel Sasongko, puts it, it’s a "soulful cup of filtered coffee" that beckons. For those in search of a creamy indulgence, the Hot Cappuccino emerges as a surprising favorite, praised by Sella Enoviana for its delightful nutty aftertaste. Pair your cup with one of their famous pastries—be it the heavenly Crème Brûlée or the beautifully crafted Tiramisu—and you’ll find each bite complements the coffee perfectly.

For those who may prefer a chilled option, the café offers a refreshing Cold Brew that captures the essence of coffee in a revitalizing manner. Here, the experience goes beyond just coffee; it becomes a journey through the flavors. Caecilia Purnamasari appreciates the café's focus on quality over quantity, noting that while sugar isn’t served, the attention to brewing methods makes the coffee enjoyable even to those who might be new to coffee drinking.

Wijen Coffee also caters to a variety of tastes with their non-coffee options, such as Strawberry Milk and Matcha, providing something for everyone in the group. The couple’s hospitality shines through in every interaction, as noted by Putri Suargana, who emphasizes the homey feel and the engaging conversations with the owner. The intimate setting of the café makes it an ideal spot for heart-to-heart talks or simply enjoying a slow-paced afternoon with friends.

While Wijen Coffee may not boast a parking facility, this only enhances its appeal for those seeking an authentic local experience. A motorcycle ride to this haven is all that's required to enjoy the soothing atmosphere and high-quality brews. So, if you’re in Yogyakarta, take a moment to escape the hustle and bustle and find solace in the comforting embrace of Wijen Coffee. It’s not just a café; it’s a community hub where every sip tells a story.

A humble coffee places to go! We ordered hot cappuccino (TASTE SURPRISINGLY VERY GOOD) we love it! Got the nutty aftertaste with a very sweet espresso based. Light-medium roasting type, definitely my go-to choices! Also try their filter coffee, they roast their own beans so we recommend you to try. Also their pastries and dessert to compliments your coffee. We ordered their crème brûlée and it’s perfect with our ice coffee Will be back once we visit Jogja again!

They have tasty espresso and manual brew options. They don't serve sugar but their manual brew options are light, enjoyable, even for those who aren't used to drink coffee and very tasty. Their cold brew is especially refreshing. They also serve bread and cakes. We had tiramisu which was especially delightful. Pictured was "kembang telon", local bean which was especially fragrant and refreshing with fruity tasting notes

For me, it's kind of overrated. Maybe it's because I arrived in the afternoon when the owner was already tired, but I didn't experience the hospitality that other people talk about. Since it happened to be quite crowded, the queue was long and unclear because there was no queueing system. Even when it was my turn, the owner only informed me that there were only three types of beans available, which could be chosen from a photo sheet with hints about their flavors. There was no chit-chat or small talk, and even while I was waiting for my coffee to be made, the owner didn't say anything. The taste of the coffee and the pastries wasn't bad, but not so special.
